We first covered the launch of the new NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ on June 20, 2008. Launched right after the GT 200 series of graphics cards, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ is die-shrinked version of the venerable NVIDIA G92 GPU, used in cards like the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB and the GeForce 8800 GT.
Thanks to the die-shrink from 65 nm to 55 nm, NVIDIA was able to further boost the core and shader clock speeds of the GPU by 9.3%. Everything else was unchanged, including the memory clock which remained at 1.1 GHz. Hence, NVIDIA called it the GeForce 9800 GTX+ (Plus), instead of the GeForce 9900 GTX.

The NVIDIA Quadro family of professional graphics cards are very, very expensive. But everyone knows that Quadro and GeForce graphics cards are virtually identical in hardware.
Obviously, you cannot just use Quadro drivers with your GeForce graphics cards. However, there is an easy way to soft-mod (modify in software) an NVIDIA GeForce desktop graphics card into an NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics card. We will show you just how to do it in this guide.
Not only that, we have also added a new page with performance results from the soft-modding of an NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT to the Quadro FX 3500. Read on and find out.
Here’s a quote from the guide :-"It all revolves around the driver support for professional 3D applications like 3ds Max or Maya. Quadro drivers allow the Quadro to be used to accelerate the rendering operations of such professional 3D applications while GeForce drivers do not. This is the basis for the premium prices NVIDIA (and ATI) charge for their professional-grade graphics cards." Link : NVIDIA GeForce To Quadro Soft-Mod Guide

Dell on Tuesday announced a series of Latitude laptops, including its lightest ultramobile commercial laptop yet and a larger system that the company claimed provides 19 hours of battery life.
The company’s Latitude E6400 runs for as much as 10 hours on a single nine-cell battery, and an additional battery that snaps on to the bottom of the laptop adds as much as nine hours of battery life, Dell officials said at a press event in San Francisco. That gives users close to a full day of laptop use without carrying an AC adapter to recharge the batteries.
Dell has developed proprietary technology to boost battery life in the laptop, said Jeff Clarke, senior vice president and general manager at Dell. The technology focuses on making components suck less power from the battery, Clarke said. For example, the refresh rate of a screen is reduced under certain conditions. Dell needed to develop related software and work with component manufacturers to enable these capabilities. (More..)

An American man has accidentally spent $999.99 on an iPhone app that does nothing but display a glowing red ruby.
Dubbed "I Am Rich," the app is meant as a status symbol for the wealthy (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/08/06/iphone_pointless/). But in reality, it’s a scarlet letter for the gullible.
As reported by our friends at Valleywag (http://valleywag.com/5034188/frightened-husband-accidentally-pays-99999-for-useless-iphone-app-on-wifes-computer), a Jesus Phone user known only as Lee5279xx spilled $1,000 on some red pixels because he was addled enough to think Steve Jobs has a sense of humor. Having a great time with your new NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ graphics card? How would you like it if it could go even faster?
Let us show you how to do that by overclocking the GPU and memory bus. We will also show you the kind of performance boost you can expect from overclocking the GeForce 9800 GTX+ in Crysis, Unreal Tournament 3 and other games!
Here’s a quote from the guide :"As we saw it our review of the GeForce 9800 GTX+, the card is really just a minor improvement of the GeForce 9800 GTX. Other than the use of the smaller and cooler version of the G92 GPU, the GeForce 9800 GTX+ has a slightly higher core clock speed. Its GDDR3 memory clock speed remained at 1.1 GHz. Hence, the minor addition of a + (plus) to its name, instead of a full number change.
With that said, the use of the new 55 nm G92 processor does provide the GeForce 9800 GTX+ with some overclocking potential. After all, our temperature tests showed that the new GPU was actually cool enough to run 3D games with the fan set to the absolute minimum! So, we just had to try overclocking it to see just how much more overclockable the new GPU would be." Link : NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Overclocking Guide
